Everyday-life at FIA

The language course at Fukuoka International Academy (FIA) follows a standardized curriculum, similar to most other language schools in Japan, ensuring you learn standard Japanese. Unlike the bustling tourist hubs of Tokyo or Kyoto, Fukuoka offers a more serene experience away from mainstream tourism. Here, you can discover a different side of Japan, making it an excellent choice for those looking to escape the hectic pace of Tokyo and the crowded train journeys during rush hour. Fukuoka is our top insider tip for a unique and peaceful immersion into Japanese culture.

International Classes

The classes at the FIA are international - there are often more Asians than Europeans or Americans.

Japanese Lessons

As at all other language schools, lessons take place in the mornings or afternoons.

Leisure Time

After lessons, there is plenty of time for leisure activities. Have you ever tried the famous tonkotsu ramen?

Lessons in Japanese

The language lessons are held in Japanese. This may sound strange at first, but it's the best way to learn Japanese quickly.

Living in a Student Residence

The student residence has its own kitchens so that you can familiarize yourself with the culinary delights of Japan.

Living in Apartments

If you opt for a student residence, you will live with your fellow students in small apartments in the heart of Fukuoka.

Our Students' Feedback

I have a Japanese friend from Fukuoka and that's why I opted for the Fia. Kyushu is very different from the rest of Japan. The mentality of the people here is completely different and generally everything just seems a bit more southern. Getting there is a bit of a hassle because there are no direct flights from Germany to Fukuoka, but with a transfer in Tokyo it's no problem. I traveled from Tokyo by express train with the help of Nipponcademy.

Mert
Fukuoka

I already spent a semester abroad in Fukuoka during my Japanology studies and had many friends there. After I completed my Bachelor's degree, I wanted to go back to Fukuoka for another six months. As wasting half a year was out of the question for me and I wanted to continue practicing my Japanese anyway, I decided on a working holiday stay with an integrated language course at the FIA.
