About your time in Japan

Yes, you do. Depending on the duration of your stay, there are several visa options for traveling to Japan. Detailed information about each visa, including requirements and age restrictions, can be found on the information pages of our Japan programs.

During your stay in Japan, you will attend a language school to learn Japanese. You will study for three hours each day in medium-sized classes of about 15 students. This structure offers several benefits: alongside professional Japanese instruction, you will have a structured daily routine and the opportunity to meet peers, aiding your integration into everyday life in Japan.

Classes are typically held in the mornings, though in some instances, they may be scheduled for the afternoon.

No, you don’t. All courses are suitable for beginners. However, if you already have some prior knowledge, you can skip the beginner levels by taking a placement test.

That’s no problem at all, because if you have previous knowledge, you will first take a placement test. Depending on the result, you will be assigned to the appropriate class.

You can learn Japanese at our language schools for up to two years without any prior knowledge. In the first nine months, you will work on the levels of the JLPT N5, N4, and N3. Over the following 15 months, you will cover the content of levels N2 and N1. With consistent effort, you will become an expert in Japanese after two years.

If you are traveling to Japan on a student or working holiday visa, you are allowed to work part-time in Japan.

All about Nipponcademy

All fees include all costs incurred for the language school, visa documents and our support. Prices for accommodation can also be found in the respective programs – no nasty surprises or expensive surcharges await you. However, you have to take care of your flight ticket yourself.

Nipponcademy is an official partner of many language schools in Japan. We handle all the bureaucratic tasks for our language schools and take care of the registration formalities for you. Most of the costs are passed on directly to the language schools, which are also the contractual partners for all school services.

We take care of all the organization and communication with the language school in Japan for you, apply for all the documents you need for your visa, translate your necessary papers into Japanese and handle the registration for student accommodation. However, our support does not end there, as your personal contact person will be there to answer all your questions and concerns both before your departure and during your time in Japan. The well-being of our students is very important to us, so you can call us at any time if you are in trouble or need a translator.

It is not mandatory to stay in a hall of residence at the language school. You are welcome to arrange your own accommodation through platforms such as Airbnb. If you are planning an extended stay in Japan and wish to find a permanent apartment, we can assist with the search and handle all formalities with the landlord. Please note, an additional fee will apply for this service to cover our costs.

If you reach out to us via email, you can typically expect a response within a few hours. Additionally, once you arrive in Japan, your personal contact will be available through Messenger apps such as WhatsApp and Line.
